Do you buy handmade ? 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hello,
I just thought I'd pose this question to my Pink Martini chums. I'm just doing some informal market research really to get your views on this - do you buy handmade, on what occasions would you consider buying a handmade gift or accessory, what would you look for, what would you be willing to pay ? Any feedback is very welcome.
Thanks again,
Paula

Hi Paula, I do like good quality hand made jewellery and would not expect to pay any less for it than 'normal' jewellery. I buy hand made cards from a colleague at work and have told her she should be charging more for them, they are just as good, in fact better than shop ones.
I bake and decorate cakes but could not do it commercially as people do not appreciate how much time goes into it, so I could never make a profit. I enjoy doing it for friends and family though and don't really have the time to do any more than that.
Does that help?

Hi Agnes,
Yes, it does ! Thanks for taking the time to reply. Just one other question, would you or do you buy handmade gifts online and if so, what was it that made you buy them ?

Thanks again,
Paula

Hi Paula,

I would buy handmade also. It depends though who I would be buying for and whether it suits the personality of a person. I would definitely be prepared to pay more, especially if it is a more unique item and not massively produced.
The whole point I think of buying handmade is the exclusivity.

Hi Vigdis,
Thanks for your feedback - you've made some interesting points there which gives me plenty to think about, especially about the personality of the person. Thanks again !

Just been having a look at your website Paula, that chocolate truffle soap looks lovely!! Might just have some of that for putting in with Christmas pressies! I clicked on the Shea body butter and the enlarged picture is enormous, are you able to make it smaller? Just thought I should mention it in case you didn't know.

Hi Agnes,
What a coincidence - I was just packing up some of the soaps last night for a fair I'm at this weekend and the smell of the chocolate one is amazing. Thanks for letting me know about the pic - I will get that sorted in the next day or two. Gosh, so many things to do and not enough time !
If you do wish to purchase anything, I will be putting on a new voucher code in the next day or two !!

Thanks again - really appreciate the feedback.

Regards,
Paula

Hi Paula,

Had a look at your keywords, metadescription, title.

Maybe you could incorporate words such as fairtrade, ecofriendly etc if these are items you are selling. People who are into products like this are those that would buy handmade and are more of the target market. They are also more likely to use these words in combination with other keywords when searching on google. Just a thought.

I think that the soaps look lovely as well. They are so good looking that it is a shame to use!

Hi Vigdis,
I totally agree with you and am busy getting the site listed on the relevant directories as I have just started adding some fairtrade items as well.
Keywords will be the next plan of attack ! Thanks for the advice ..

Regards,
Paula
